Okay, so this is one of those weird, Japan-only Kunio-kun spin-offs that never made it overseas. It’s basically the usual gang from River City Ransom thrown into a samurai brawler—except everyone’s got swords now, and the schoolyard fights have turned into full-on feudal brawls.

You pick from Kunio, Riki, or a bunch of other familiar faces, then slash your way through side-scrolling stages with these oddly floaty controls. The combat’s janky but kinda fun once you get used to it—like if someone mashed up a beat-em-up with Samurai Shodown but forgot to polish the hit detection. And yeah, you can still pick up random junk (like fish?) to throw at enemies, because of course you can.

It’s not the best Kunio-kun game, but if you’re into retro brawlers or just love this series’ weird charm, it’s a fun little oddity. Just don’t expect it to play as tight as River City.
