About Double Dribble - 5 On 5
Double Dribble: 5 on 5 came out for the Game Boy in 1991, a portable basketball title from Konami. It arrived when sports games on the handheld were often simplified versions of their console counterparts, trying to capture the feel of a full game on that small, monochrome screen.
You control a team of five players, passing and shooting to outscore your opponent. The main objective is to win the game by having more points when the clock runs out. Signature mechanics include the ability to steal the ball with a well-timed button press and attempting three-point shots from behind the arc. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty can spike with aggressive computer defense. It feels like a quick, pick-up-and-play session of basketball, condensed into a pocket-sized format.
