Double Dragon II on Game Boy is weirdly different from the arcadey NES version—it’s actually a stripped-down take on some obscure Japanese beat 'em up. You still punch and kick your way through waves of thugs, but the controls feel a little stiff, and the levels are way shorter. Not bad for a quick bus ride, though.
Honestly, I expected the usual side-scrolling brawler, so the change threw me at first. But once you get used to the janky jumps and weird hitboxes, there’s some charm in its simplicity. Just don’t go in expecting the arcade experience.
