Doshin the Giant is one of those weird, charming N64 games that never got enough love. You play as this big, yellow, kinda goofy-looking giant who can reshape the land—lifting hills, carving rivers, and basically playing god for a bunch of tiny villagers. At first, it feels like a peaceful sandbox where you just help them build their little towns, but then you discover the twist: hold down a button, and Doshin transforms into Jashin, this angry red version that wrecks everything.
It’s oddly satisfying to switch between the two—helping people farm one minute, then stomping their houses the next. The villagers react to you, too; if you’re nice, they cheer and build statues. If you’re Jashin too often, they’ll try to fight back. The controls take some getting used to (typical N64 awkwardness), but once it clicks, there’s something weirdly zen about molding the landscape while this little tribal soundtrack plays in the background. Definitely not your average sim game.
