Doom 64 (J) is basically the N64’s moodier, creepier take on classic Doom. The lighting’s darker, the soundtrack’s got this eerie industrial hum, and the levels feel like they’re actually trying to mess with you—dead ends that loop back, hidden switches tucked behind pillars. You’ll still blast through imps and pinkies with the usual shotgun-and-chainsaw combo, but everything’s just a little… heavier. Like, even the pistol sounds beefier.
First 10 minutes? You’re dropped into some dimly lit tech base, immediately swarmed by zombies, and scrambling to find the chaingun before something bigger shows up. The Japanese version doesn’t change much, but if you’re a collector or just want the slightly different box art, it’s the same relentless demon cleanup duty. Still holds up if you like your shooters straightforward and tense.
