Donkey Kong 64 is one of those N64 games that just oozes charm—bright, goofy, and packed with stuff to do. You start off as DK, swinging through jungles and bouncing on enemies like it’s 1999, but soon you unlock the rest of the Kong crew, each with their own weird abilities. Tiny Kong’s ponytail helicopter? Classic. And yeah, there are bananas everywhere—like, everywhere—but collecting them actually matters for once.
The levels are huge, almost too big sometimes (looking at you, Fungi Forest), but the platforming feels tight, and the boss fights are these ridiculous, over-the-top brawls. It’s got that Rareware magic—quirky humor, secret caves, and a soundtrack that’ll stick in your head for days. Just don’t blame me when you’re humming the DK Rap at 3 AM.
