Disney’s Tarzan on N64 is one of those licensed games that actually holds up. You start off swinging through vines like you’d expect, but the controls have this weirdly satisfying weight to them—like you can almost feel the momentum when Tarzan lets go at the right moment. The jungle looks surprisingly lush for an N64 game, with these bright greens and blues that make it feel alive.
It’s not just mindless platforming, either. Some levels have you racing against apes or dodging leopards, and there’s even a few sections where you ride a log down rapids (which, yeah, is as chaotic as it sounds). The music’s all Phil Collins-y, so if you grew up with the movie, it’s an instant nostalgia hit. Just don’t expect it to be easy—some of those vine jumps require annoyingly precise timing.
If you’re into classic platformers with a bit of personality, this one’s worth dusting off the N64 for.
