Digital Devil Story - Megami Tensei on the NES is one of those weird, rough gems from the early days of the franchise. You start off summoning demons in a dark, almost eerie Tokyo—way before Persona made this stuff stylish. The menus are clunky, the combat's brutal, and half the time you're just praying your negotiations with demons don't backfire (spoiler: they often do).
It's got that classic dungeon-crawler feel where every step could mean an ambush, and fusing demons feels more like mad science than strategy. Not gonna lie, the Famicom version's a bit of a relic, but if you're into seeing where SMT's weird roots began, this is it. Just don't expect any hand-holding.
