Digger T. Rock is one of those NES platformers that feels like it should’ve been way more famous than it was. You play as this Indiana Jones-style explorer digging through caves, dodging traps, and occasionally chucking rocks at enemies—which sounds simple, but the level design gets surprisingly clever. The first few screens trick you into thinking it’s just another hop-and-bop game, then suddenly you’re timing jumps over lava pits or figuring out how to stack blocks to reach higher tunnels.

It’s got that classic Rare charm, too—weird little animations, like when Digger does this exaggerated stumble if you stop moving too fast. The music’s all bouncy and upbeat, which kinda helps when you’re replaying the same section for the tenth time because some bat knocked you into a pit. Definitely one of those "wait, this was on the NES?" hidden gems.
