About Die Hard
Die Hard came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games on the NES, where you often got an 8-bit version of a blockbuster film. This one tried to capture the feeling of being trapped in a skyscraper, just like in the movie.
You control John McClane, moving him through the Nakatomi Plaza floor by floor. Your main goal is to rescue hostages and eliminate the terrorists who have taken over the building. You explore the offices screen by screen, picking up weapons and keycards from downed enemies to progress. The pacing is tense; you are frequently outnumbered, and managing your limited ammunition becomes a constant concern. Navigating the maze-like floors while avoiding gunfire gives the game a persistent, claustrophobic challenge. It feels like a desperate scramble from one firefight to the next.
