About Diablo (proto)
Diablo (Proto) is an unreleased prototype for the original Game Boy, a version of the game that never reached store shelves. It appears to be early test code, a glimpse into what might have been during the platform's era. As someone who owned a Game Boy, it is a shame this project was never completed, especially considering the popularity of Diablo at the time.
You control a warrior exploring a dungeon screen by screen, fighting monsters with a sword. The main goal is to delve deeper into the labyrinth, battling enemies and collecting items. The gameplay involves methodical exploration of each room and real time combat where you swing your weapon at oncoming foes. The pacing is deliberate, and the challenge is consistent. Playing it feels like uncovering a piece of gaming history that was almost lost.
