About Dezaemon
Dezaemon came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Bullet Proof Software. It was a strange and ambitious release for the NES, a console better known for polished, finished games. This one was different; it was a toolset, a program that let you build your own shoot 'em up levels and then play them.
You control a small spaceship, moving it around the screen to avoid enemy fire and projectiles. The main objective is to survive the waves of enemies you or others have designed, shooting them down while dodging their attacks. The signature mechanics are all about creation: you place enemy spawn points, design their movement patterns, and set the background graphics and music. You can build stages screen by screen, testing them instantly to see how they play. The pacing and difficulty are entirely in your hands, which means you can craft a brutally challenging gauntlet or a simple, relaxing flight. It feels like having a box of electronic Legos, where the only limit is the system's memory and your own patience for tinkering.
