Devil World is this weird little Pac-Man clone Miyamoto made back in the NES days—except Nintendo of America refused to release it stateside because of all the religious imagery (crosses, devils, that sort of thing). You’re a little dragon thing running through mazes, gobbling dots while this giant demon face at the top of the screen messes with you by shifting the whole playfield around. It’s simple, but the way the screen tilts and scrolls makes it way more disorienting than it should be.
Honestly, it’s not Miyamoto’s best work, but there’s something charming about how janky and mean it feels compared to his other stuff. The Wii Virtual Console release was the first time most people outside Japan got to try it, which is kinda funny for a game this old. If you’re into retro curiosities, it’s worth a look just to see Nintendo’s weird phase.
