About Deja Vu (japan)
Deja Vu came out in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Kemco. It was part of a wave of games trying to bring the point-and-click adventure genre to consoles, offering a different kind of challenge from the platformers and action titles that dominated the NES library at the time.
You control Ace Harding, a private investigator who wakes up with amnesia in a seedy bathroom stall. Your main goal is to figure out who you are and why you are being framed for murder. The gameplay involves moving a cursor screen by screen to examine environments, pick up items, and talk to characters. You combine objects in your inventory to solve puzzles, like using a key from a hotel room to open a desk drawer elsewhere. The game is methodical and unforgiving; missing a single clue can halt your progress completely. Navigating the gritty, interconnected locations of 1940s Chicago while piecing together the conspiracy feels like slowly untangling a knotted rope in the dark.
