Defender of the Dynatron City is one of those weird, late-NES gems where you pick from a team of gloriously bizarre superheroes to stop Dr. Mayhem’s robot army. I mean, you’ve got Buzzsaw Girl—who literally has spinning saw blades for legs—and Toolbox, a hammer-headed robot who smashes everything in sight. My personal favorite? Monkey Kid, because nothing says "superhero" like throwing explosive bananas.
The controls take a second to get used to (Jet Headstrong’s detachable head attack still trips me up sometimes), but once you figure out who clicks with your playstyle, it’s a chaotic blast. The levels are packed with weird enemies and hazards, and the whole thing feels like playing a Saturday morning cartoon—probably because it actually was one, with voice acting from Whoopi Goldberg and others. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
It’s janky in that classic NES way, but the sheer creativity makes it worth a play if you dig offbeat action games.
