About Days Of Thunder
Days of Thunder came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Beam Software. It was one of the many racing games trying to capture the feel of the film on the small screen. You got a portable NASCAR experience, which was a decent ambition for a system known for its simple, pick-up-and-play titles.
You control a single race car, viewed from overhead, navigating oval tracks. The main goal is to win each race by finishing first, which requires careful management of your car's limited fuel and tire wear. You can draft behind other cars to gain a speed boost, and you must pit periodically to refuel and change tires. The races are fast and the AI is aggressive, making it a challenge to hold your position without spinning out. It feels like a constant, tense battle against both the track and the other drivers.
