About Dash Galaxy In The Alien Asylum
Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by Data East. It was one of those NES titles that tried to blend different play styles, a common approach in that era when developers were experimenting with the console's capabilities.
You control Dash Galaxy, an astronaut exploring a multi-level alien complex. Your main goal is to navigate through every room on each floor, collecting all the objects you find before your oxygen runs out. The game switches between two perspectives: a top-down view for moving between floors in elevator shafts, and a side-scrolling view for the room-by-room exploration. You also manage a limited oxygen supply, which depletes over time and drops faster if you touch enemies. Occasionally you find bombs or keys to unlock new paths or reveal hidden rooms, some containing express elevators that can skip levels or send you back down. The constant oxygen timer adds a persistent pressure to move quickly. It feels like a race against your own air supply in a maze of alien architecture.
