About Darkman
Darkman on the NES came out in 1991, published by Ocean Software. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games for the system, where you often got a side-scrolling action game based on a film's premise. This one puts you in the role of the disfigured scientist from the movie, seeking revenge on the criminals who destroyed his life.
You control Darkman through several side-scrolling stages, moving screen by screen and fighting thugs with punches and kicks. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped love interest, which involves navigating city rooftops, docks, and other urban environments. A key mechanic is finding and using special synthetic skin masks; these allow you to temporarily disguise yourself as an enemy to bypass certain obstacles or surprise attack guards. The game is known for its high difficulty, with relentless enemy placements and precise platforming required. Playing it feels like a relentless, often punishing brawl through a grim cityscape.
