Okay, so Darkman on Game Boy is one of those weird licensed games that somehow works. You play as this disfigured scientist-turned-vigilante, jumping between rooftops, punching thugs, and occasionally solving these janky little puzzles—like, why is there a random block-pushing section in the middle of a crime spree? But hey, it’s the 90s.
The controls are stiff (classic Game Boy platformer problems), but once you get used to the weird hitboxes, swinging pipes at goons feels oddly satisfying. The levels are short but packed with traps and enemies that’ll knock you into pits if you’re not careful. And yeah, the movie’s dark tone kinda gets lost in the chunky pixels, but the music? Surprisingly moody for a handheld game.
It’s not perfect, but if you’re into obscure retro stuff or just love games where you punch guys in alleys, this one’s a weird little time capsule. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
