Dark Rift on N64 is one of those weird, janky fighting games that somehow still sticks with you. The characters are all over the place—cyborgs, demons, a dude with a flaming sword—and the combat feels clunky at first, but in a way that makes you want to figure it out. The graphics were actually pretty solid for the time, especially the stages with their weird floating platforms and dark fantasy vibes.
Multiplayer is where it shines, though. My friends and I used to waste hours trying to land ridiculous combos with Zenmuron (the samurai guy) or just spamming projectiles with that creepy floating eyeball character. It’s not as polished as, say, Tekken or Soulcalibur, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the way the hits connect. If you dig obscure ‘90s fighters, this one’s worth a few rounds.
