Daiku No Gen San 2 is that weird little Japan-only sequel to Hammerin' Harry—you know, the NES game where you run around smashing stuff with a hammer? This one keeps the same chaotic energy but throws in some new enemies and levels that feel just a bit meaner than the first game.
You’re still playing as the blue-collar construction guy, but now there’s this red-haired gang (the "Akage No Dan") causing trouble everywhere. The controls are as simple as ever—jump, hammer, repeat—but the level design gets sneaky with pits and ambushes. I died way more than I’d like to admit on the second stage because those knife-throwing punks hide just off-screen.
It’s got that classic NES jank—sometimes you’ll swear your hammer hit that enemy, but nope, you take damage anyway. Still, there’s something satisfying about plowing through waves of thugs while wrecking the scenery. If you liked the first game or just enjoy old-school arcade-style brawlers, it’s worth a look—just don’t expect a polished modern experience.
