About Cruis'n Usa
Cruis'n USA came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1996, a Midway Games title that landed early in the console's life. It was one of those games you saw at rental stores and friends' houses, a straightforward arcade racer trying to bring a slice of the cabinet experience home.
You pick a car and race from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Washington Monument, checkpoint to checkpoint across a simplified America. The game uses a split screen for two players, and you can knock other cars off the road with a solid hit. The tracks are filled with shortcuts and obstacles, like the cows in the Midwest level, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as you progress. It feels fast and a little chaotic, a simple game about holding the accelerator down and trying not to crash.
