About Crayon Shin-chan - Ora No Gokigen Collection (japan)
I picked up Crayon Shin-chan: Ora No Gokigen Collection for the Game Boy back in 1999. It was published by Bandai, one of those many licensed games that filled the portable library. This was during the era when the Game Boy's green screen felt like a tiny window into another world, and this title was a straightforward adaptation of the popular anime series.
You control the mischievous Shin-chan, navigating through a series of side-scrolling stages. The main goal is simply to get from the start of each level to the exit, a familiar platformer objective. The signature mechanics involve Shin-chan's unique abilities; he can use his signature "Assault" move to attack enemies and can also perform a butt-bounce to break certain blocks. You collect various items scattered throughout the stages, like candy, which contribute to your score. The pacing is generally brisk, and the difficulty is manageable, though some jumps require precise timing. Playing it feels like a quick, silly romp through Shin-chan's neighborhood.
