Ever played Arkanoid and wished it had a little more chaos? Crackout is basically that—a Breakout clone with some weird twists. You’ve got the usual paddle-and-ball action, but here the blocks fight back. Some shoot lasers, others explode, and a few just straight-up chase you. It’s not the prettiest NES game out there, but the sheer unpredictability keeps it interesting.
Fun fact: This was supposed to hit the US but got canceled, so Europe and Australia got it instead. The Japanese version (Nazo no Kabe) came first on the Famicom Disk System, but the NES port added some extra levels. If you’re into retro brick-breakers with attitude, it’s worth a spin—just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
