About Cosmo Tank (japan)
Cosmo Tank came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Atlus. It was part of that early wave of portable games that tried to do something more complex than simple arcade ports. You got a mix of different play styles in one cartridge, which wasn't too common back then.
You control a small tank, navigating through a series of interconnected rooms in an alien base. Your main goal is to destroy the base's core. The game switches between two perspectives: an overhead map view where you drive from room to room, and a first-person view for the combat sequences. In these first-person sections, you manually aim your cannon at enemies that fly in from the edges of the screen. You also have to manage your limited ammunition and fuel, forcing you to be careful with your shots and movement. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is fairly high, demanding precise aim and resource management. It feels like a tense, methodical crawl through a hostile environment.
