Alright, so Conan: The Mysteries of Time is one of those NES games that looks simple at first—until you realize how much weird stuff they packed in. You play as Conan (obviously), swinging swords and chucking axes through caves, deserts, and haunted ruins. The goal? Find these four ancient urns before some skeleton or ghost decides to jump you—which happens a lot.

What’s cool is the weapon variety. You start with a basic sword, but then you find axes that actually arc when you throw them, and later, fireballs that melt enemies. The controls take a second to get used to—attacking feels a little stiff at first, but once you get the timing down, smacking a wraith mid-air is weirdly satisfying.

Fair warning: Some of the platforming is brutal. One wrong jump over a pit, and you’re back to the start of the level. But if you like old-school action with a bit of exploration (and don’t mind the occasional cheap death), it’s a solid hidden gem. Just don’t expect the throne to come easy.
