Clay Fighter 63 1/3 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, published by Interplay. It was part of that wave of early 3D fighting games on the system, trying to carve out a space with its claymation style when most others were using more traditional graphics. You could tell they were experimenting with the hardware, and the look was definitely different from anything else on the console at the time.

You pick from a roster of bizarre fighters, like a living snowman or a stretchy blue blob, and battle it out in one-on-one fights. The main goal is to deplete your opponent's health bar before they deplete yours. A few mechanics stand out: you can build up a special meter to unleash more powerful attacks, and some characters have transformations that change their move sets mid-fight. The pacing is often slower and clunkier than other fighters from that era, with the difficulty sometimes spiking unexpectedly due to awkward controls. Playing it feels like wrestling with a silly, unpredictable toy that never quite does what you expect it to.
