Clay Fighter 63 1/3 is one of those weird, charming N64 fighters that never took itself seriously—and that’s why it’s still fun. The whole thing looks like a claymation nightmare (in a good way), with fighters like a stretchy blue blob, a deranged snowman, and a sumo wrestler who’s basically a walking ham. Special moves are ridiculous—I still laugh when the snowman throws his own head as an attack.
It’s not the tightest fighter out there, but the goofy animations and over-the-top sound effects make up for it. The first time you see a character’s face warp after a punch, you’ll either love it or wonder what the devs were smoking. Either way, it’s hard to forget.
If you’re into weird retro fighters with personality, this one’s a solid pick for a couch session with friends.
