About Circus Charlie (japan)
Circus Charlie came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, a Konami release during a time when the NES library was rapidly expanding with all kinds of arcade-style games. It was a straightforward port of their earlier arcade game, fitting right in with the quick, skill-based challenges that were common then.
You control Charlie, a little clown in a red jumpsuit, working your way through a series of circus acts. The main goal is simply to survive each stage and rack up a high score. The gameplay shifts between different mini-games: you jump across the backs of a line of bouncing lions, balance on a high wire while avoiding mischievous monkeys, and leap between trapezes over a netless drop. The pace is fast, and the timing for jumps needs to be precise, making even the early levels surprisingly demanding. It feels like a constant test of your reflexes and patience.
