Chuugoku Janshi Story - Tonpuu (japan) Game

Ever tried playing mahjong on an NES? Chuugoku Janshi Story - Tonpuu is one of those weirdly specific Japan-only releases from 1989. It’s exactly what it sounds like—a straight-up mahjong game with no frills, just tiles and a very '80s aesthetic.
You’re thrown right into a match with a basic UI that somehow feels both clunky and charming. The music loops in that classic Natsume way—repetitive but weirdly hypnotic. If you don’t read Japanese, good luck figuring out the menus at first, but once you’re in, it’s just you, the AI, and a lot of tile-slapping.
Not gonna lie, it’s niche as hell, but if you’re into retro mahjong sims, this one’s a time capsule. Just don’t expect any tutorials.
