About Chou Snobo Kids (j)
Chou Snobo Kids came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, published by Atlus. It was one of those late-era N64 titles that felt a bit different from the usual platformers and racers, a puzzle adventure that didn't get much attention outside Japan. You don't hear about it often, which makes stumbling upon it an interesting discovery.
You control a team of kids exploring a large, multi-screen world. The main goal is to solve environmental puzzles by pushing blocks, activating switches, and navigating maze-like areas, often under a strict time limit. Your party moves together as a single unit, turning entire rows or columns of characters at once, which becomes the core mechanic for planning your route. The game is methodical; you spend a lot of time studying the layout before making a move, because a single wrong step can force a restart. It feels like a quiet, deliberate test of your spatial reasoning from start to finish.
