Chou Snobo Kids is one of those N64 snowboarding games that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s got this weird, colorful charm to it. The tracks are bright and exaggerated—think half-pipes over lava and jumps through floating rings—and the controls are surprisingly tight once you get used to them.
At first, the trick system feels a little stiff compared to something like 1080° Snowboarding, but after a few runs, you start nailing these ridiculous combos off ramps. There’s a weird roster of unlockable characters too, like a penguin and what I’m pretty sure is a sentient snowman. Multiplayer’s where it really shines though—nothing like shoving your friend off a cliff mid-air.
If you’re into retro sports games with a side of Japanese quirk, this one’s a hidden gem.
