If you grew up watching Chibi Maruko-chan, this Game Boy game is like stepping right back into her world. You’re basically hanging out with Maruko and her crew—running around town, playing little mini-games, and just vibing with that nostalgic 90s anime energy. The pixel art somehow nails the show’s charm, right down to Maruko’s signature cheeky grin.
There’s no big epic quest here—just cute, low-stakes stuff like helping her grandpa find his glasses or racing friends in a silly obstacle course. Some of the mini-games are hit-or-miss (that fishing one took me way too long to figure out), but it’s all so earnest you can’t stay mad. And yeah, the dialogue’s in Japanese, but if you’ve seen the show, you’ll recognize the gags anyway.
It’s the kind of game you play when you want something cozy, not challenging. Perfect for short bursts between bus rides or right before bed. Just don’t expect deep mechanics—it’s pure, sugary nostalgia in cartridge form.
