Chaos World is one of those obscure NES RPGs that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this weird, grungy charm. You start off picking from four classes (I went with the warrior first, obviously), and right away the combat feels clunky but kinda satisfying in that old-school way. The overworld’s got this washed-out color palette that makes everything look like it’s covered in dust, and the dungeons? Absolute mazes, no mercy.
It’s got that classic turn-based grind, but with some odd quirks—like how magic works or the way enemies just ambush you out of nowhere. Not gonna lie, the translation patches floating around are rough, but if you’re into janky, forgotten RPGs, this one’s a weird little time capsule. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.
