Chameleon Twist came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, developed by Japan System Supply. It was part of that wave of early 3D platformers where developers were experimenting with the new possibilities of the hardware, creating a lot of unique and sometimes strange games. This one definitely fits into that category of odd but memorable titles from the console's library.

You control a chameleon who has been pulled into a strange world through a magical mirror. The main goal is to navigate through a series of themed worlds, defeating enemies and solving environmental puzzles to progress. Your chameleon has a few key abilities; its long, sticky tongue is your primary tool, used to latch onto poles and swing across gaps or to grab enemies and items from a distance. You can also extend your tongue to attack foes directly. The levels are designed as linear obstacle courses, screen by screen, requiring precise jumps and clever use of your tongue to find the exit. The pacing is generally brisk, though some sections can be tricky, demanding good timing to avoid falling or taking damage. It feels like a quirky, hands-on puzzle where you are constantly measuring distances and planning your next tongue lash to move forward.
