Okay, so Chalvo 55 is this weird little Game Boy platformer that somehow flew under the radar back in the day. You play as this tiny bouncing ball with a face—sounds ridiculous, but trust me, it works. The controls take a minute to get used to (hold B to charge your bounce, release to launch), but once it clicks, you’ll be ricocheting off walls like a pinball with a mission.
The levels are these compact, maze-like things packed with spikes, enemies, and hidden switches. At first, I kept overshooting jumps or landing right on top of hazards, but the more you play, the more satisfying it gets to chain bounces perfectly. There’s something oddly zen about nailing a tricky sequence after a dozen failed attempts.
No fancy story here—just pure, unfiltered retro platforming with a gimmick that actually holds up. If you’ve got a Game Boy and a soft spot for obscure gems, this one’s worth a spin.
