Chack'n Pop came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, a conversion of Taito's arcade game. It was part of that early wave of NES titles where developers were still figuring out how to translate arcade concepts to the home console, often resulting in these compact, screen based challenges.

You control Chack'n, a small yellow creature who can walk on floors and ceilings but not walls. Your goal is to rescue the Chacklets, which are eggs, from each single screen stage before a timer runs out. You navigate by extending your legs to climb steps and reach higher platforms, and you defend yourself by throwing grenades to the left or right to eliminate the Popons, the enemies that patrol the area. The grenades explode after a short delay into a cloud of smoke; if you are caught in that cloud, you lose a life. The pacing is insistent because of the timer, and the precision needed for both movement and bomb placement makes it quite difficult. It feels like a constant, tense puzzle where a single mistimed move can ruin your attempt.
