About Chacha Maru Panic
Chacha Maru Panic came out for the Game Boy in 1992 from Coconuts Japan Entertainment. It was one of many action platformers on the system, a straightforward game from a time when developers were still figuring out what worked on that small green screen. You do not hear much about it now, but it had its own little spot in the library.
You control a character who runs and jumps through single screen stages. The main goal is to collect all the items in a level before a timer runs out. Your main tools are a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting enemies from a distance. The game is built on exploration, moving screen by screen through themed worlds that function like small dungeons. It can get quite difficult, with enemies swarming and the clock always ticking down. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic scramble to clear each room before time is up.
