Okay, so Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness is basically the N64 trying its best to do 3D Castlevania—and honestly? It’s got this weird, janky charm. You start off as this werewolf dude named Cornell (or one of three other characters later), and right away you’re jumping around blocky gothic towers, whipping skeletons, and trying not to fall off edges because the camera’s kind of a nightmare.
The whole day-night cycle thing actually matters—some enemies get stronger after dark, and the vibe shifts from "spooky castle" to "oh god why is everything glowing red now." The music’s all dramatic organs and choirs, which helps sell the gothic horror thing even when the graphics haven’t aged great. Pro tip: axes are your best friend against flying enemies, but good luck figuring that out without eating a few hits first.
It’s not Symphony of the Night, but if you’re into weird N64 experiments or just want to see Dracula’s castle in awkward early 3D, it’s a fun time. Just brace for some clunky platforming.
