About Castlequest
Castlequest came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, published by Jaleco. It was part of that wave of early NES games that focused on methodical exploration rather than fast action, fitting right in with the console's growing library of adventure titles.
You control a knight tasked with rescuing a princess from a sprawling castle. Your main goal is to explore the fortress room by room, collecting three magical crowns to unlock the final door. The gameplay revolves around navigating screen by screen, fighting off enemy knights and creatures with your sword, and managing a limited inventory of keys to progress. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty comes from the maze-like layout and the need to remember which doors you have already opened.
