About Casper
Casper came out for the Game Boy in 1996, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of licensed games on the handheld, where you'd often find yourself exploring big, interconnected worlds on that small, green-tinted screen. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it offered a solid adventure if you were into that sort of thing.
You control Casper the Friendly Ghost, navigating through a large mansion. Your main goal is to find and reassemble a magical amulet, which involves searching every room and secret passage. The gameplay is methodical; you explore the mansion screen by screen, using your ghostly abilities to float through walls or become invisible to bypass enemies. Combat is simple, mostly involving a short-range spook attack to deal with the other, less friendly spirits that get in your way. The pace is slow and deliberate, with some tricky platforming sections that require precise floating. It feels like a quiet, sometimes lonely exploration of a haunted house, where the challenge comes more from navigation than from frantic action.
