Bust-A-Move 3 DX came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, a time when the console was full of 3D platformers and racing games. Taito Corporation, the developer, brought this colorful puzzle title to a system that didn't have many pure puzzle games. It was a nice change of pace from the usual action-heavy N64 library.

You control a cursor at the bottom of the screen, aiming and launching colored bubbles upward to match them with others of the same color. The main goal is to clear the entire screen of bubbles before the ceiling slowly descends and ends your game. Key mechanics include using walls to bank your shots for tricky angles and creating chain reactions by popping one group, which makes unsupported bubbles fall away. The game starts calmly but the pressure builds as the ceiling gets lower, forcing you to think and act faster. It feels satisfying to set off a big chain and watch a crowded screen suddenly clear.
