Bust-A-Move 2 came out for the Game Boy in 1996, a time when puzzle games were a staple of the handheld. Taito, the developer, had already established the series in arcades, and this portable version brought that same bubble popping action on the go. You control a small cannon at the bottom of the screen, aiming and firing colored bubbles upward to match them with others of the same color. The main goal is to clear each screen of all bubbles before they descend and reach a critical line. Key mechanics include the ability to bank shots off the side walls for tricky angles and creating chain reactions by popping one group, which makes others fall. The game starts gently but the pace quickens, and the later stages demand precise planning. It feels satisfying to watch a whole section collapse after a single well placed shot.
