Bust-A-Move 2 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, a time when the console was full of 3D platformers and racing games. Taito, the developer, brought this colorful puzzle title over from the arcades, offering a different kind of challenge for N64 owners. It was a straightforward port, fitting right in with the simpler, more focused games of that era.

You control a cursor at the bottom of the screen, aiming and launching colored bubbles upward to match them with others of the same color. The main goal is to clear the entire screen of bubbles before they descend and reach the bottom. Key mechanics include banking shots off the side walls to reach tricky angles and creating chain reactions by popping one group, which makes others fall and potentially pop as well. The game starts gently but the pace quickens, with later stages demanding precise aim and quick thinking under pressure. It feels satisfying to line up a perfect shot and watch a huge chunk of the playfield disappear at once.
