Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed and published by Taito. It was a time when the N64 library was full of 3D platformers and racing games, so this colorful, straightforward puzzle title stood out simply by being different. It was a direct port of the arcade game, which meant it brought that particular style of quick, session-based play to the console.

You control a cursor at the bottom of the screen, aiming and launching colored bubbles upward to match them with others of the same color. The main objective is to clear the entire screen of bubbles before the ceiling slowly descends and ends your game. The core mechanics involve creating clusters of three or more matching bubbles to make them pop, and using ricochet shots to reach awkward angles on the playing field. The game's pacing is methodical at first, but the difficulty escalates sharply as the stages introduce more colors and complex bubble arrangements.
