Burai Fighter Deluxe is one of those Game Boy shooters that feels way bigger than it has any right to be. You start off with this dinky little ship, weaving through waves of enemies that come at you from all sides—some patterns are brutal, but nailing a perfect dodge feels amazing.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially when the screen fills with lasers and explosions. I remember getting stuck on the third level for ages until I realized you can actually charge your shots for bigger blasts. Classic '80s arcade energy, just portable.
If you're into old-school shmups where reflexes matter more than grinding, this one's a solid pick. Just don't blame me when you start seeing enemy patterns in your sleep.
