About Bugs Bunny Collection
I picked up Bugs Bunny Collection for the Game Boy when it came out in 1990. It was published by Kemco, one of the many companies putting out licensed games for the handheld. At the time, having a Looney Tunes game in your pocket was a simple, straightforward appeal. It fit right in with the platform's library of colorful, cartoon based adventures.
You control Bugs Bunny through a series of side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to navigate from the start to the exit, avoiding or outsmarting a cast of familiar enemies like Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping across platforms and collecting carrots that are scattered everywhere. Some stages shift the formula, turning into maze like areas where you have to find a certain number of items to proceed. The difficulty can be surprisingly sharp in places, with precise jumps required and enemies that respawn quickly. It feels like a condensed arcade challenge, a test of your timing and memory as much as your reflexes.
