About Bubble Bobble (europe)
Bubble Bobble came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, developed and published by Taito. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the NES, a straightforward platformer from an era when a simple concept could keep you busy for hours.
You control a little dinosaur named Bub, blowing bubbles to trap enemies before popping them. The main goal is to clear each single screen level of all foes to advance. Your bubbles also let you trap items and enemies, which you can then burst for points or to release fruit and other power ups. The game progresses screen by screen, with certain levels hiding secret warp zones. The pacing starts deceptively simple but the difficulty ramps up significantly, introducing more complex enemy patterns and layouts. It feels like a cheerful, frantic puzzle where every bubble is a temporary cage and a potential key.
