About Brain Drain
Brain Drain came out for the Game Boy in 1996, developed by Bits Studios and published by Acclaim. It was part of that wave of late-era Game Boy titles that tried to push the hardware with more complex ideas, moving beyond the simple arcade ports and platformers that defined the system's early years.
You control a small, round robot navigating a massive, interconnected facility. Your goal is to explore the complex, screen by screen, to find and assemble the pieces of a powerful computer core. The main mechanics involve using a limited supply of energy to activate teleporters, open security doors, and power other devices you find. You also collect data chips to upgrade your robot's abilities, like increasing your jump height or energy capacity. The game is methodical and often difficult, requiring careful resource management and backtracking as you unlock new paths. Playing it feels like slowly untangling a dense, logical puzzle where every decision matters.
