Bouken! Puzzle Road is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s a surprisingly addictive mix of block puzzles and RPG-style progression. You start off pushing colored blocks around to clear paths, but then it throws in enemies, keys, and even boss fights. The first few levels trick you into thinking it’s simple, but by stage 5, you’re sweating over whether to sacrifice a health point just to set up a combo.

The chiptune soundtrack is oddly catchy, and the pixel art has that classic early-90s charm—think bright colors and exaggerated character sprites. I got stuck for way too long on a level where you have to trap a slime between two blocks, but the satisfaction when it finally clicked? Worth it. If you like puzzle games with a little extra flavor, this one’s a solid time capsule.
