Boomer's Adventure Game

Boomer's Adventure is one of those Game Boy gems that nails that classic platformer feel—pixel-perfect jumps, weird little enemies, and a surprisingly catchy soundtrack for something made of pure 8-bit bleeps. You play as Boomer, this round little dude with a slingshot, bouncing between floating islands and dodging fireballs from an evil wizard who looks like he stole his outfit from a heavy metal album cover.
The first level throws you right into it: you’re hopping over pits, smacking goblins with rocks, and figuring out which blocks are safe to land on (spoiler: the spiky ones aren’t). The puzzles start simple—push a crate here, hit a switch there—but later levels get sneaky with hidden paths and bosses that take way too many hits to go down. I may or may not have yelled at my Game Boy when the final boss kept respawning his minions.
It’s got that old-school charm where everything’s just a little janky in the best way. If you’ve got a soft spot for games where the main character looks like he’s made of three pixels, this one’s a solid time capsule.
